National Association of State Outdoor Recreation Liaison Officers ( NASORLO )

Our Mission is:  We are the primary advocate for the State Assistance program of the Land and Water Conservation Fund. We do this through providing information, training, collecting data and preparing reports for use by the Department of Interior, Congress, our members, partners and communities who benefit from this program.

NEW MEMBER ORIENTATION PROGRAM…..

  1. NASORLO is the National Association of State Outdoor Recreation Liaison Officers.  Our members are the official gubernatorial appointed administrators of federal outdoor recreation grants from the Land and Water Conservation Fund in the 56 states and territories we represent.   2. NASORLO is the organization whose sole mission is to be the state advocates for equitable and robust funding for and proper administration of  the State Assistance program of the federal Land and Water Conservation Fund .
  3. The organization has always derived it’s strength from the commitment of it’s members to be actively involved in advocacy for state assistance program of the LWCF.
  4. We are incorporated as a 501 c ( 6 ) organization in North Dakota ( Go to History to see filing document and current IRS letter )
  5. We are governed by an Executive Committee, consisting of a President, Vice President, Past President, and Secretary/Treasurer ( who serve two year terms ) and a twelve person Board of Directors selected by the membership of two members from each of the six NPS administrative regions.  ( who also serve two year appointments ..)   6. We have a part time Executive Director who handles the day to day business of the organization.
  7. The NASORLO Board meets quarterly, or as needed in between the annual meeting, to conduct the business of the organization and to make any adjustments needed.

The NASORLO annual meeting ( usually held in the fall ) is the one time the organization meets to set priorities and prepare to act as advocates for the states and territories in relation to the federal Land and Water Conservation Fund outdoor recreation grant program.   9. Our dues are $ 1250 per year, per state/territory and are due the first of each year, which is the beginning of NASORLO’s fiscal year.
