LWCF Partners present Senator Barrasso with National Leadership Award
Wyoming Senator John Barrasso was presented with the National Leadership Award for his support for state grants by the stateside LWCF Coalition. Domenic Bravo, President of NASORLO presented the award in the Senator’s office on March 20th. The National Recreation and Parks Association, National Association of State Park Directors and America’s State Parks were the other stateside LWCF partners that recognized the Senator with this honor.
Senator Barrasso is working on behalf of the states toward an equitable distribution of the LWCF, so that states and local communities can once again receive enough grant funds to address their growing and changing outdoor recreation needs.
It has been shown that state use of these federal funds, matched with local dollars provides better opportunities for active recreation for our citizens close to their homes and at the same time stimulates the local economy and creates a significant number of jobs. See recent Outdoor Industries Association data at http://www.outdoorindustry.org/advocacy/recreation/economy.html
Congratulations again to Senator Barrasso.
